THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF YOUNG SINGERS OF THE POPULAR MUSIC “NEW WAVE JUNIOR 2008” TAKES PLACE ON THE 28-TH – 29-TH OF NOVEMBER, 2009 AT THE BIG CONCERT HALL “COSMOS”

The competition takes place during 2 days:

On November, 28, 2009 – The Opening of the First International Competition of Young Singers of the Popular Music “NEW WAVE JUNIOR 2008”;

On November, 29, 2009 – The Second Competition Day and the Closing of the First International Competition of Young Singers of the Popular Music “NEW WAVE JUNIOR 2008”.

THE PRIZE “GUIDING STAR” 2008

On the 27-th, September, 2008 in Moscow there was held the 10-th, jubilee celebration of the World Tourism Day.

Ceremonial part of the celebration was presented by giving City Awards in a tourism field, and also the Prize “Guiding Star”. Diploma of Honor and the bronze statuette (as a small copy of the famous statue of Peter the Great, work of the sculptor Zurab Tsereteli) were awarded to the Cosmos Hotel Complex in the nomination “The Best Tourist Hotel Complex of Moscow”.

FESTIVAL OF HUMOR 2008

The Final of the Open Festival of Humor and Variety takes place in Big Concert Hall of the Cosmos Hotel 25-30 September, 2008. 115 participants will compete for Grand Prix. Among guests of the festival are: Alexandr Schirvindt, Yan Arlazorov, Ephim Shifrin, Klara Novikova, Lion Izmailov, Nadezhda Babkina, Gennadiy Vetrov and many others.

We are glad to greet in a Hotel Complex Cosmos rugby team of France (Amatuer). They have arrived to Moscow to participate in an unofficial match with the Russian team on the 5-th of September, 2008.

TRANSSYBERIA RALLY 2008

Participants of the “Transsyberia Rally 2008”, following their tradition, stayed in the Cosmos Hotel. The race starts in Moscow from the Cosmos Hotel on the 11-th of July and finishes in Ulan-Bator (Mongolia) on the 25-th of July. This year race participants will overcome 7 000 km., cross the Ural, Western-Siberian plain, Altai and Gobi desert.

SELECTION CONCERT OF JUNIOR “EUROVISION” SONG CONTEST

June, 1, 2008, in the International Children Defense Day, at the Concert Hall of the Cosmos hotel there was held a final selection concert, resulted in a choice of the winner who will represent Russia in November, 2008, in Cyprus, Limassol, at the Junior International Song Contest “Eurovision”. Mikhail Puntov is the winner. We wish him a good luck! We really hope he will repeat the result of Dima Bilan, who took the “gold” of “adult” “Eurovision” International Song Contest in May, 2008, in Belgrade.

GIFT FROM AMERICAN FIGURE SKATER FOR RUSSIAN CHILDREN

American figure skater Johnny Weir, who won the "gold" of Cup of Russia on Figure Skating on Ice (part of Grand Prix) and who stayed in Cosmos Hotel, leaving our country, has left a big bag with lot of "Teddy Bears" for Russian children - orphans. Thank you, Johnny! We can see that you don't have only "golden" skates, but also a "golden" heart! Good luck in your further competitions! We remind to everybody that after the Cup of Russia and Cup of China Johnny gets 30 points and gets to the Final of Grand Prix in December, in Turin, Italy. Good luck!!!

INDESIT VOLLEYBALL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007, MEN

6-16, September, 2007 in Moscow and St.Petersburg there will be matches of INDESIT VOLLEYBALL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007, men. This big international event will gather together athletes from 16 European countries.

Matches in Moscow will be held in a sport complex "Olympiyskiy".

Hotel Complex Cosmos was chosen as a place of holding the XIV GENERAL ASSEMBLY of ICA and XXIII INTERNATIONAL CARTOGRAPHICAL CONFERENCE (4-10, August 2007). GENERAL ASSEMBLY and INTERNATIONAL CARTOGRAPHICAL CONFERENCE promote the development of the world science in the field of theoretical and practical cartography and CIS - technology. The Minister of Transport of Russian Federation Mr. Livitin I. has opened the event. (Greeting, Official opening).

Hotel Complex has all necessary facilities for organizing and holding big events: Cinema/Concert/Congress Hall (1000 seats!), multi-functional banquet and conference halls, exhibition spaces etc.

ICE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 (April, 27 - May, 13)
