Moscow sights

The main and most famous square of Moscow is situated in China-town near the north-east wall of the Kremlin. Distance to the Cosmos Hotel - 9 km.

There is a place of execution, the monument to Minin and Pozharskiy, Lenin's Mausoleum and the necropolis near the Kremlin’s wall, where graves of the USSR public figures are located.

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow is a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is situated not far from the Kremlin on the left bank of the river Moscow. That place earlier was called Chertolie. Distance to the Cosmos Hotel - 10 km.

The Cthedral with based on the project of architector Konstantin Ton. The building has lasted for 44 years. It was started on 23 September 1839, and  sanctified on 26 May 1883.

The State Tretyakov Gallery is museum of Russian art in Moscow. It was found in 1856 by the chapman Pavel Tretyakov. He owned on of the biggest collection of Russian fine art pieces. The exposition is situated in the engineering building “The Russian fine art of the end of the XI–beginning of the XX century”, which is now part of the Russian national museum association “The State Tretyakov Gallery” (founded in 1986). All-Russia Exhibition Center is situated in the North-Eastern district of Moscow that is the biggest in the city. Distance to the Cosmos Hotel - 0.5 km.

The Exhibition was officially opened in 1939. At first it was called the All-Soviet Union Agricultural Exhibition. In 1954 it was re-opened after the reconstruction, that was started in 1950. Due to that reconstruction the All-Soviet Union agricultural exhibition could be compared with Versailles and Peterhof.

The museum of cosmonautics is situated on the ground floor of “Conquers of space” in the Cosmonauts’ alley. Distance to the Cosmos Hotel - 0.3 km.

The Museum was opened on 10 April 1981. This event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of J.A. Gagarin’s space flight. There are samples of rocket and space technology, personal belongings of astronauts and engineers, archival documents and articles of numismatics and philately.

Kuskovo is the most popular and preserved noble estate in Moscow. It is also one of the most interesting and most visited museums in Moscow. The visit to Kuskovo should be compulsory for students of the "Interior Design" and "Landscape Design" courses. Distance to the Cosmos Hotel - 3 km.

The Ostankino Tower is currently  the fifth tallest tower in the world and it was the world's tallest free-standing structure at the time it was built in 1967.  Tower was designed by  architecture N. V. Nikitin for one night, upturned lily became the tower prototype. At tower top there is an observation deck to visit for excursion as well as a panorama restaurant “Sedmoye nebo”.  Distance from the Cosmos hotel is 4km.
